Private Quarters
Under the Domes
Hospitality at Imaret is not organised as an offering, but as a state—one that arises from the way the place is formed and continuously used.
From the outset, this place was conceived around calm, measure, and care—an architecture of benevolence in which space, light, and time work together, allowing the guest to inhabit the house with ease. The spaces receive without imposition.
Rest arrives naturally, shaped by simple materials, balanced temperature, and the discreet presence of light. Movement unfolds through shaded passages and enclosed calm, where light is filtered, pace is moderated, and the body adjusts almost without noticing.
What once sheltered scholars and travellers continues to serve the same purpose: the restoration of inner order through continuity of use.
The Table
From monastic tables to caliphal plates
Meals shaped by the land’s fields and sea. Flavours carried by the seasons. The table becomes a quiet ceremony woven through the day.
Imaret’s cuisine belongs to a long continuity of nourishment, formed through restraint, devotion, and time. Thracian abundance defines the table: meats, grains, and herbs from fertile fields, olive oil and fruit from nearby farms, fish drawn daily from the Aegean, enriched by spices once traded through Istanbul.
Cooking follows the order of the place. Ingredients are allowed to speak for themselves; wines from French terroirs and Greek vineyards accompany rather than impress. Preferences are received quietly and absorbed into the rhythm of preparation.
Taste at Imaret is continuity, not invention — the rediscovery of a region where East and West once shared the same bread.
A Quiet Care
Warmth, Touch and Water
Care at Imaret follows a calm, continuous order. Well-being is understood as equilibrium — the balanced relation of body, breath, and mind — sustained through measure rather than intervention.
Treatments rely on simple elements: touch, warmth, breath, and water. Massage restores circulation; heat and steam unfold within the original hammam and sauna; water immersion balances movement and stillness. Moments of rest and gentle practice allow equilibrium to return quietly.
Drawing on Ayurvedic wisdom, treatments adapt to each person, following the same quiet order that shapes the house itself.
Journeys
Traces of Thrace
From Imaret, each journey unfolds through history, myth, and landscape.
Philippi bears the imprint of empire and faith.
Samothrace reveals the mysteries of the Great Gods by the Aegean.
Along the Nestos River, nature slows time.
Amphipolis and Abdera link ancient brilliance to the present, while Mount Athos, seen from above, endures as a sacred realm.
Each journey is shaped to the guest’s rhythm and curiosity, allowing time and theme to bend without losing meaning.
